Dear Supporters,

The mission of the Brookhaven Arts Alliance is to provide art education and cultural events to residents and visitors of Brookhaven with the goal of opening the Brookhaven Center for the Arts.

During preparations for this year’s Taste of Brookhaven, the Brookhaven Arts Alliance has reached the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event. Since its inception this popular event has sold out and we were looking forward to another sell out year as we celebrate our 5th anniversary. However, a challenging sponsorship climate coupled with an increase in event overhead, has led the BAA to view this cancellation as a sound business decision due to our limited resources.

On a positive note, the Brookhaven Arts Alliance will focus on the launch of our community art classes. This initiative represents the critical momentum necessary to reach our ultimate objective to build a Center for the Arts in Brookhaven. Thanks to the generous cooperation of DeKalb County, the BAA will be teaching these initial art classes in the recently constructed Ashford Park Community Center.

In tandem with the art education program, the Brookhaven Arts Alliance has been awarded a grant by CCT to help develop business principals for our Board of Director’s and Board of Advisor’s. Additionally, we will create a business plan with an eye towards fulfilling our goal of developing the arts center. The BAA looks forward to attracting a talented team to help communicate our vision to Brookhaven residents and interested stakeholders.

As the Brookhaven Arts Alliance begins its efforts to promote art classes, we will keep you posted on our progress and volunteer opportunities. We are sincerely grateful for your gift of time and financial support over the last five years and look forward to an improved economic climate as we plan for next year’s Taste of Brookhaven.
